Purchase, 1988, Nordic competition for a new urban development on the site of the old gasworks
Our entry “Hussar Stan” was rewarded for the overall scheme carefully using and developing the existing conditions: landscape and the old historical City Gasworks. The skillfully planned quartier on the northern side of the area was appreciated too.
The closed and semi-closed quartiers were composed of diverse residential buildingtypes. The old industrial structures including gasworks and gas bells were changed for mostly public purposes like library and all kinds of sport facilities. The highest steel gas bell was studied as a new head office for the City Energy Company.
